8-channel GD-Class amplifier with built-in 9-channel DSP for Plug&Play installations

DESCRIPTION

The ultimate choice for simple implementations in OEM factory systems

The new UP 8DSP is a real tool that not only offers incredible power and dynamics for true hi-fi sound, but at the same time has all the prerequisites for easy integration into the car.

The ultimate connectivity

With six High Level inputs, an optical digital input, the MATCH expansion card slot and many smart technologies, such as the ADEP.3 circuit, the UP 8DSP is perfectly equipped for easy adaptation to existing multi-channel audio systems.
In addition, with a total of eight amplifier channels as well as the additional line output – combined with the powerful 9-channel DSP – individual speaker configurations can also be realized.
2 of the amplifier's 8 output channels deliver 160 Watts RMS into 2 Ohms – enough to power even large subwoofers.

Virtual channel processing – this is how signal routing works today

Optimum adaptation to existing multi-channel audio systems requires logical management and configuration of the many DSP channels – so there was no doubt that the UP 8DSP is also equipped with Audiotec Fischer's innovative virtual channel processing.

Especially when front, back, and center systems are split into multi-path systems, conventional routing concepts quickly reach their limits, both in terms of implementation and usability.

The multi-stage "Virtual Channel Edit", combined with the user-friendly DSP PC-Tool software makes it easy to map even highly complex system configurations and freely use the audio FX capabilities.

Furthermore, thanks to its large number of channels combined with the optional MEC ANALOG IN module, the UP 8DSP is also a prime example for applications where 1-to-1 routing (IOR) makes sense.

ACO – Advanced 32-bit coprocessor platform

Of course, the UP 8DSP is equipped with our 32 Bit ACO platform, which not only takes over all control tasks extremely quickly, but also handles a bunch of audio functions: sound effects such as Augmented Bass Processing or Real Center are implemented as well as a split EQ input channel that includes an Input Signal Analyzer (ISA) for easy analysis and compensation of the input signals of OE radios, which already include audio tuning by default.

Small dimensions

Despite its enormous potential, and the large output power of 6 x 65 Watts at 4 Ohms plus 2 x 90 / 160 Watts at 4 / 2 Ohms, the UP 8DSP comes – as usual for a MATCH amplifier – in a very compact form, so so it can be installed even in limited spaces without any problems.

DSP PC-Tool 5 feat. TuneEQ – Powerful features for the ultimate audio experience

Of course, the MATCH UP 8DSP can be easily configured via the new, professional and extremely easy-to-use DSP PC-Tool 5. The well-known, numerous setting options leave nothing undone and guarantee an extremely precise sound setting even for complex system configurations. And thanks to the new, exclusive TuneEQ function for automatic frequency response correction, you also save a lot of time when optimizing your sound.

Special characteristics:

GD class technology

Audiotec Fischer's Class GD topology takes the performance of conventional Class D amplifiers to the next level. By varying the internal supply voltage in multiple steps depending on the input signals of the amplifier, idle losses are greatly reduced and overall efficiency is close to maximum at all times. Thus, the heat dissipation is almost negligible, thus allowing for the smallest heat sinks.

ACO – Advanced 32-bit coprocessor

The UP 8DSP incorporates an extremely powerful 32 Bit CoProcessor of the latest generation. This not only handles all control tasks extremely quickly, but also lightning-fast switching between up to ten sound memories.
But ACO offers much more – in addition to a split-channel input equalizer, including the Input Signal Analyzer (ISA) for easy analysis and compensation of OEM radio input signals and fantastic sound effects such as Augmented Bass Processing or RealCenter, there is now the revolutionary TuneEQ function for automated adjustment of output equalizers.
An additional major advantage is CoProcessor's built-in boot loader. It allows software upgrades of all DSP components in order to configure the ADEP.3 microprocessor controlled circuit, for example in future modifications / changes to the diagnostic system of factory radios or if the device is to be extended with additional Interfaces.

ADEP high level intelligent input.3

Modern, factory-installed car radios incorporate sophisticated diagnostic capabilities for connected speakers. In particular, the latest generation of car radios are equipped with additional monitoring functions, so that failure messages and loss of certain features (eg fader function) are often displayed if a common amplifier is connected – but not with the UP 8DSP.
The new ADEP.3 (Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection, 3rd Generation) circuit avoids all these problems without unnecessarily loading the speaker outputs of the OE radio during high voltages.

Start-Stop capability

The switching power supply of the MATCH UP 8DSP ensures a constant internal supply voltage even if the battery voltage drops to 6 Volts during engine cranking. If the supply voltage drops below 10.5 Volts for more than five seconds, the amplifier goes into "Protection Mode" (status LED lights up red) to prevent any further discharge of the car battery.

Automatic digital signal detection

UP 8DSP allows controlled signal switching between analog inputs and digital input. As soon as an input signal is detected at the optical input, the amplifier automatically switches to that input. This feature can be disabled in the DSP PC-Tool software. Alternatively, you can use an optional remote control to manually switch between analog and digital inputs.

Energy saving function

The energy saving function is built into the basic installation. It allows to significantly reduce the power consumption of the UP 8DSP and potentially connected amplifiers when there is no input signal for more than 60 seconds. Please note that in many modern cars with "CAN" or any other internal bus structure it can happen that the radio remains "invisible" on for up to 45 minutes. even after locking and exiting the car! Once the "Energy Saver Mode" is activated, the remote output and therefore the connected amplifiers will be switched off. The MATCH UP 8DSP will reactivate the remote output within one second if a music signal is applied. It is possible to modify the 60 second shutdown time. or completely disable the "Power Saving Mode" via the DSP PC-Tool software.

DSP features

TuneEQ

TuneEQ is an extremely versatile and extremely easy-to-use function for automated frequency response correction. A single measurement per audio channel or pair of channels with a suitable measurement microphone (eg our MTK1) is enough for TuneEQ to independently and accurately adjust the equalizers to the desired reference curve. TuneEQ uses the full set of parametric equalizer functions, including center frequency, Q factor and gain adjustment. And since the highly complex arithmetic operations required for this run in the background, you also save a lot of time when optimizing your audio with TuneEQ.

RealCenter

The "RealCenter" feature is an algorithm, developed by Audiotec Fischer, that emphasizes the music information present in both the left and right front channels to create a unique center signal. Unlike common procedures, in which only the channels are summed, the center signal intensity is also dynamically controlled by the stereo information content of the left and right channels.

It sounds complicated, but this effect is amazing: This means that if only the left or right channels emit an audio signal, the center channel will not reproduce a signal. In the case of common algorithms, the volume level of the center channel is reduced by only 6 dB (= half the volume level). Audiotec Fischer's "RealCenter" enables a unique, expanded sound reproduction for driver and passenger at the same time! Therefore, the disadvantages of a conventional center channel, such as an intrusive, small soundstage, are a thing of the past.

Enhanced bass processing

Audiotec Fischer's proprietary "Augmented Bass Processing", consisting of the two revolutionary sound features "Dynamic Bass Enhancement" and "SubXpander", has been specially developed to dramatically improve the bass reproduction of subwoofers.

"Dynamic Bass Enhancement" intelligently combines maximum deep bass and higher sound pressure – regardless of music style or tone controls on the head unit. Depending on the input signal, "Dynamic Bass Enhancement" acquires the lowest frequency range and changes the cutoff frequency of the subwoofer. The result is a significantly stronger and deeper bass response at low and medium volumes without the risk of overloading the subwoofer either mechanically or electrically at high volume levels. It's just fascinating what bass performance is suddenly possible.

If you want even lower and "darker" bass reproduction, the "SubXpander" can be additionally activated. Therefore, subharmonic tones are added to the fundamental tones in the frequency range between 50 and 100 Hz.
